Abu Dhabi ⬤ Those whose visas expire before March 1 in the UAE have been given three more months to leave the country without paying any fines. The amnesty, which began on May 18, is coming to an end and will be extended for another three months. The amnesty will last until November 17, said Maj. Gen. Saeed Raqan al-Rashidi, director general of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
No penalty for illegal stay will be levied on those who leave the country during the amnesty period. Only those whose visa expired before March 1 can avail this benefit. All you need is a valid passport and a return ticket. No special registration or application is required. You can reach the airport directly. Such returnees are not barred from returning to the UAE on other visas.
Those wishing to return via Dubai International Airport using the amnesty should contact the immigration department at the terminal 48 hours before departure. Those traveling via Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah airports must arrive at the immigration section six hours in advance. Earlier, the authorities had said that all those traveling as a family should come together.
