ILO-ADB reports that 41 lakh youth lost their jobs in India due to the Kovid crisis. The highest job losses were in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors. Kovid has caused huge job losses in Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The current situation is such that 660 million young people in these sectors are losing their jobs. The ILO-ADB report states that governments in countries should take the necessary steps to overcome such adversity.
The report estimates that between one and 1.5 billion people could lose their jobs this year in thirteen countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The major crisis was in the wholesale, retail and food service sectors. This is the reason why a large number of young people lose their jobs. The report says that even before Kovid, job losses and the job crisis in Asia were severe. The report is based on unemployment figures in various countries.
